The Department of Sociology, University of Delhi, celebrated its Department Day on the 15th of March, 2024. Professor Gurminder K. Bhambra, Professor of Historical Sociology at the Department of International Relations, School of Global Studies, University of Sussex and President of British Sociological Association (2022- January 2024) delivered the keynote address on ‘Reparations and Racial Capitalism: Why we need a Colonial Global Economy Approach’. The Head of the Department, Professor Sudha Vasan presented the annual report of the Department for 2023- 2024. Faculty representatives of the Sociology Department from the colleges of Delhi University (Lady Shri Ram College, Miranda House, Janaki Devi Memorial College, Sri Venkateswara College, Kamla Nehru College, Indraprastha College, Maitreyi College, Hindu College and Bharti College) presented their significant achievements of the year. Students of the Department conducted the program and energized the audience with their cultural performances. The festivities moved to the department back lawns in the afternoon with food stalls set up by students, games, music and dancing.
